I've had the kids on my own for 3 days this week and I have to admit that we've had a lovely, reasonably stress free, time. I embrace the "rulelessness" of summer. We have fresh air meals, cuddles on the sofa and flop into my bed (all 3 of us) when we are thoroughly worn out. No schedules, no homework and no fuss. I love the tastes, smells and sounds of the season. The kids can't get enough of fresh fruit and vegetables, the flowers smell so sweet and the birds and bees compose the musical score to our many adventures.
so far this summer we have spent a week with my family in Oakville, Canada Day weekend in PEI with friends at a cottage in French River and a gorgeous maritime Sunday afternoon at a cottage on the south shore. When the sun shines it's hard to argue with the appeal of summer by the seashore.
Ahead of us we have camping, Maine and another trip to PEI - the kids love it so why argue with success.
J&S are having so much fun with their sitter...bus rides, playgrounds, sprinklers and board games inside on rainy days. This is such a sweet time in their lives. No summer jobs to think about, no heavy chores to complete just the freedom to enjoy everything about being a kid in Canada!
love, mom xo
