It's been quite a week. Between work, home and everything going on at school I definitely bit off more than I could chew for October....oh well, we're 1/2 way there and then I can breathe for a bit.
Andre and the kids have been awesome, thankfully all 4 of us are healthy and there's lots of rewarding stuff going on....but between the job I get paid for and all the other ones I don't I am having more wine that usual (don't worry...that means 1 glass every other night HA)
Sofia's birthday party is this coming weekend and she's so excited! it's wonderful to see. So wonderful to celebrate birthdays and remember to cherish every one - no matter the number. HA.
I keep forgetting to mention that we have adopted and adapted a ritual from one of Sofia's friends, Eliana. It's a very sweet series of thoughts from your day that we do every night before kisses good night. Everyone lists an item (including mom and dad)...the original routine is...
"What was your apple today?" = what was your highlight from the day
"What was your onion today?" = what wasn't so great about today
We've added...
"What was your orange today?" = what was the sweetest thing about today
"What was your broccoli today?" = what did you eat that was healthy today
and between Sofia and Eliana they have added...
"What is your green mango" = what are you looking forward to
last night we had
apple = making a test run of the giant cookie/cake for sofia's birthday party
onion = it was rainy so jake's track meet was postponed
orange = that we all made the cookie together
broccoli = a yummy soup for supper
green mango = Sofia's BIRTHDAY!!
It's a lovely routine for us to remember the great things about the day as well as the lessons we learned. I encourage you to try it yourselves...and make it your own :)
all of this to say that between the kids and grown ups in this house we are really grateful for our friends!
here's a shot the kids and j's bud from the apple farm
