I must admit I have been absent from the blog for a month as I can't seem to find a way to adequately express the sadness over losing my grandmother recently. I would like to honour her before moving on but it seems I can't. So I may have to leave this topic unfinished and come back when I have clearer thoughts. Right now I have moments of sadness when I thik I will never get to hear her voice, or see her smile again...but I also have moments of relief for her, because we all loved her so much and she always gave to us before herself, we want that for her now. We want her to be at peace, surrounded by love and fresh flowers :)...
So grandma in lieu of a sad note I leave you with the heaps of wonderful memories I have.
- playing Pay Day
- fresh baked pies
- ice cream for dinner
- big warm hugs
- a welcoming table
- beautiful family meals
- a full candy jar on your dining room hutch
- your bell and spoon collections
- your amazing sewing, knitting, crocheting, flower growing, garden tending and photo organizing talents
- your love of the colour purple (in any hue)
- your love of photographs (I'm sure that's where my love comes from)
- your giant bottles of Nivea handcream
- your straight forward advice
- your gentle, kind and sincere way with my children
- your love of sweets
- your pride in your family
- your generous nature
- your ability to never forget an anniversary, a birthday or a graduation
- your adventurous spirit
I could go on and on....she was an amazing lady and we were all so blessed to have her in our lives. Her legacy will live on in all the lives she touched and all the lessons she gave us.
