What a busy month February has been! As we prepare for March break we are whizzing through a month of sports, sports and more sports! it's been great fun. Both kids are playing and loving basketball. Sofia has the nicest group of girls and coaches this year. We cannot say enough good things about them. it's 13 girls (age 8 or 9) and 3 dads. Sofia has learned some amazing basketball skills and had the chance to make new friends - both great activities in my book.
Martyr's Girls heading to the finals tomorrow! Thank you coaches Ian, Scott and Kyle.
Sofia doing what she does best - defending.
Sofia watching to see if her shot goes in.
The other exciting news in this house has been the release of the Lego Movie! OH MY! To be a 10 year old boy. It was all Jake and his buddy could do to wait for the big weekend where they got to go to the movie all by themselves. No mommy or daddy sitting in the theatre with them.
Here is the other place you will find me these days...I don't even want to count the hours I spend sitting beside this pool. But, the kids love it and are happy to part of the Halifax Trojans Aquatics Club. I am always inspired by how well they swim.
Finally, in honour of Valentine's Day and a year of "Acts of Kindness" Jake's class decided that instead of a class party they wanted to go around the neighbourhood and spread kindness to others. So, they divided themselves into groups of 6 and took the treats they would have eaten and we went for walks to give them out. It took us only 25 minutes to give out 30 treat bags and the children were blown away by the excitement and happiness they created.
Everyone who received a treat bag was so appreciative and kind - and most were so impressed that grade 5's were inspired to do this. I cannot count the number of "this totally made my day" I heard or the number of people who tried to give the kids money in return.
These two ladies had the best reaction!
Here the kids are saying that they wish they had more treats to give away and that they can't wait until next time.
And not to forget that it's winter in Canada we have also been doing some skiing!
