Andre and I did manage to get out, with friends and family, for a fabulous afternoon concert during the tall ships - we saw Hey Rosetta a great band from Newfoundland. It was very cool. They opened up George's Island (named for King George) - a national historic site - and had the concert within the walls of the fort (Fort Charlotte - named for King George's wife). Those of you who have visited Halifax will recognize the island as the one you can see from the waterfront - it has a very prominent lighthouse on the Halifax side. It was an amazing show and great experience to be out on the island on a beautiful afternoon. I hope they are able to host more events like that. The Island as a military based dates back to the 18th century and I recently learned that parks Canada is working on restoring the site to have it open to the public in a few years. I think it's a fabulous spot and can't wait to visit it with the kids and all the friends and family who, very kindly, visit us.
