The Art of Writing Letters

Have you ever thought about the last time you hand-wrote a letter?  I don't mean adding a note to a card you were sending or a quick hello with a gift. I mean, sitting down to write a friend a letter to update them on your life and then putting it in the mail.  Basically the old version of an email.  My Sister in Law, Sara, does a fabulous job of sending hand written notes and it always reminds me how lovely they are!

I've decided that it's fading away and I really enjoy receiving hand written letters - and i'm hoping that others feel the same way.  Everyone enjoys getting mail don't they?

So, I've decided that I'm going to write one letter per month (at least) and mail it off to my friends or family.  Ideally I will choose a different person each month.  If people choose to reply - that's great, but if not, it won't stop me. I will enjoy the writing just the same.

I am debating buying some really pretty writing paper to make this process even more fun - but I think I shall start my first letter on old fashioned lined paper...I want to make it easy for myself to start HA.  Don't want to add any obstacles that will result in excuses for not getting it done (like "well, I needed pretty paper but didn't have time to get to the store this week so I didn't write anything")

At the end of the year I hope I can say I've written at least 12 letters....hopefully writing this down (albeit digitally) will keep me to my word! :)

Last weekend we made it out to enjoy the Oval (http://www.halifaxoval.com) we could only find one of my skates so I had to pass (the lineup for a free pair of rental skates must have been 75 people long!)....I will get a new pair of skates at some point...thinking of moving to hockey skates....below you can see Andre and Sofia skating together and Jake whizzing past me!

Today was an absolutely stunning "spring like" day in January so we took to the hills for some beautiful sunny skiing.  It was wonderful!  Here you can see my hill mates and the view from the chair.
