Makes me glad for the changes we are making to our lives starting next week! Both kids asked to be in creative camps for the summer so I listened. no babysitter, no "sports" they wanted theatre and art camp. If i could have found music camp i likely would have tried to squeeze that one in too HA.
In the fall I have decided to go ahead with changing my hours to be at pickup everyday. After the week we had with tears and anxiety over regular childhood "meanness" in the playground I'm glad I will have more of a presence for the two of them. I don't want them to avoid these situations and I'm not trying to "rescue" them from anything. But I am listening to them and what they are asking for (as best they can). So we will have some new routines in the fall...I'm hopeful the new schedule will also allow us to add activities (of their choosing) to our lives which will be nice. Many start at 4 or 4:30 and were not possible for us while I worked until 4:30 but if we now have that window I hope we can explore some new options.
I like days like today, where you feel inspired to make changes outside the norm or follow what your heart tells you is what you and your family need.
We are back to soccer tonight. Again, another thing the kids enjoy! One day I will figure 50% of this gig out and be happy HA.
I still waffle with my working...and I do feel uneasy about it. I will continue to listen and hope I have a clear voice soon!
YES!! So glad you have seen one of his talks!! He is fabulous and has inspired my teaching practice. I love the line, "Life is not linear. It's organic!" Have you seen his other talks? I'll e-mail them to you xxxx
