TGIF

Hooray! it's friday.  Hopefully meme is safely in Paris, we will see pepe tonight and today is supposed to be another gorgeous day! I cherish my Fridays off.  Errands, french homework, housework and a little bit of time squeezed in in the morning for coffee with some girlfriends.  It's my 1 hour a week to not feel guilty that i'm not somewhere else :). I can't wait. This morning the woman who's hosting will be sharing her newfound love of bacon marmalade! I can't wait to try it.  It's new from PC...i saw it yesterday in the store, and have to admit it didn't actually look all that appetizing but she says it's amazing.  I'll try almost anything once HA!

Sofia had soccer last night and she was great!  she's a little intimidated by playing net so they rotate all the girls through each position for short periods.  She has a fantastic coach who really seems to understand 6 & 7 year old girls (who are, arguably, a different breed) and her team is so supportive.  It's very sweet to watch them get excited for the game, chant their team cheer and cheer each other on from the sidelines.  Anyway, Sofia let in a few goals during her time in net but Andre, myself and Cynthia (another friend whose daughter, Chloe, plays on the team) gave her lots of encouragement from the sides.  she stuck it out and then took her turn at forward and ran her little heart out chasing the ball up and down the field.  Although we're at that field 4 nights a week (which by Thursday means we're having cereal for dinner HA) the kids are finally enjoying soccer so I try not to moan about the schedule.

I received a lovely voicemail from my mom yesterday.  They'd gone in to celebrate my grandmother's birthday with her yesterday.  Her birthday is actually Sunday (it regularly falls on Father's Day) but everyone had other plans so they decided to pick a weekday when everyone was free anyway.  Sounds like it was a great celebrations! all her children, all her sisters and even 2 of her nephews made it for lunch.  I'm so pleased.  she always loved a good gathering.  Mom also mentioned they will be visiting in july! hooray!  they plan to be here for mom's birthday which is a fantastic idea!!  i'm so excited.  I always love being able to celebrate birthdays together.  the kids and I can plan something special for nana as she always manages to plan special things for us.  Perhaps a special seafood dinner...and then home for cake together?  Anyway, lots of time!

Speaking of planning.  The kids and I will also be working on Father's Day gifts for Andre today.  Perhaps a little nudge for him to go buy that iPad he keeps putting off :)

I cannot believe there are only 2 weeks of school left!  ack.

Today's photo is from Sofia. She took the time to write this the other day and I promised I'd take a photo so we could always remember her hard work :)
