taking a break

tomorrow HA.

i read this on another site and found it hit close to home.

"Oftentimes, we allow the stress in our lives to get the best of us. The pressures of work, relationships, running a household and/or raising children can feel overwhelming and insurmountable. The to-do lists never get shorter, the demands on our time never go away. And truth be told, they never will. The key is figuring out how to manage it all without sacrificing your own health in the process."

The Challenge:
When you leave your stress unchecked and unmanaged, it quickly takes it’s toll on your emotional, behavioral and physical well-being. Common symptoms of too much stress include trouble sleeping, reoccurring headaches, irritability, fatigue or even depression (sound familiar?). And to make matters worse, stress can also lead to unhealthy lifestyle choices such as reaching for those high-fat/high-sugar foods. But how do you break the vicious cycle and get your stressors under control?
The Solution:
Guess what? You can’t do it all. No one can. And that’s ok. Accepting that you will be dropping balls along the way is the first step in getting stress in check. Decide upfront what is most important and must be done. The rest can wait. Also, add yourself to that to-do. Taking a break is your best medicine. Walking with a friend, getting in a good workout, taking a vacation or simply listening to music. These aren’t luxuries. They are necessities for keeping you healthy, vibrant and stress-free."
So, tomorrow morning after i drop the kids off i'm going to meet some friends for coffee and take a one hour break (maybe 2).  I'm going to sit and chat about life and do nothing...not worry about work deadlines, lunches, summer camps, end of year events, tidying the house, doing laundry etc. the priority will be clearing my body of stress :)
can't wait!!  may sound odd to schedule stress free time, i'm sure it does to some, but for now, it's our reality.

  1. Good for you, Jen. It is so important to take time out. Life is for living and enjoying. It is too short to worry about all things we have to 'do'. We are human 'beings' not human 'doings'. I have an a huge list of things to 'do' today, but I'm going to take time to enjoy doing them and if they don't get done, the world will not end. Enjoy your coffee time. can't wait to see you in a few weeks for a good old catch up and hugs!!!!
