summer has begun

the May long weekend (or Victoria Day weekend as it's known in Canada, marking the birthday of Queen Victoria...what are we on now? roughly 150 years?)....marks the beginning of summer for many of us north of the 49th.

This weekend is no different and the glorious summer-like weather has made it extra spectacular.

gardens are in bloom. families are out bbq'ing...people are cottaging...it's wonderful.

Today was the Bluenose Marathon youth fun run - from what I understand it's the largest youth run in Canada - i had no idea!  Jake, Andre and many of our friends ran it.  Sofia and I cheered and took photos.  Perhaps next year we will run.

Tomorrow is the marathon (and associated runs).  I will be running the 10K with andre and some friends.  a few friends and neighbours will be running the 1/2 and i can't think of anyone i know running the marathon this year.  but with this beautiful sunshine and predicted 22 degree weather it should be a good one - perhaps even a little warm?

so for today. i shall leave you with the pictures ...

the garden - my rhodos are coming!

Jake and his buddies running with Andre
as they head toward the finish (the red bar to the left side of the 2nd photo)

Maria and Jacob 2 seconds later!

a red face, a run medal and  Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans (think Harry Potter)...and more bean discussion...and more and more....

BBQ at the neighbour's all playing basketball.

  1. Bravo, Jake! Have fun Jen and Andre! The flowers look great. It looks like summer is off to a great start.
